Software Testing at Startups
Monday, January 3, 2011 at 9:58AM
This year I have a couple of talks lined up where I'll be talking about testing at startups. I addition to those talks, I'll also be doing some writing on the topic. Over the last year I've had the pleasure of getting to work with several startups locally, but I'd really like to know what others are encountering. I'm also trying to get different perspectives on testing at startups. I've perceived a disconnect between how testers think about testing and how developers and founders think about testing.
To that end, I've put together the following survey. It's two pages, but the second page is a bit involved. You'll likely need to set aside around fifteen minutes if you really want to take it. (Lots of text fields.) All the data will be made public, but individual responses will remain anonymous. I appreciate any help you can provide, by either taking the survey or sending it out to others whom you feel might be interested.

I was with a start up in 2002. Are you looking for perspectives from current start ups only? I would not want my comments to adversely influence your data set.
Carl
Carl, I think your experience would still make for valuable input. However, in the closing open comment field you can note that it's from 2002 - I can use that to help sort/filter if I end up needing to that later. Thanks for clarifying.
Is this survey gonna be published on software testing club ? I'm very interested to know the results ..
Aya, the results will be published (with all individual responses remaining anonymous). I'll work with the STC team to make sure the results find their way there.
Definitely it is different for innovative tester and exploratory testers STARTUP are the place to do something different
